A little old Florida paradise with access to Tampa Bay fishing. Boat ramp is crazy busy here but organized. Only one ramp.

Nice boat ramp and canoe launch, but parking is limited and it can be very busy at times.

Great place to put your boat in and go fishing the mangroves

Ok during the week. Weekends plan on walking a mile back to your truck, way too busy

This place is a fisherman’s paradise. First, Cockroach Bay Preserve State Park offers visitors use of a free boat ramp and free parking for trucks and trailers. Second, within minutes after launching your boat, you can start fishing the nearby mangroves or, if you're after the “big one”, you can take off to the big waters. But you don't have to go far for good fishing. A few of the fish you can catch at Cockroach Bay are redfish, trout, and tarpon. If you're lucky, one of the better catches you’ll make is meeting Billy Wheat, a local fish biologist who will tell you about the manatees and dolphinS at Cockroach Bay. Billy is a staple at Cockroach Bay and you’ll likely find him there with his dog, Barn, doing research on fish. Consider yourself lucky if Billy and his dog Barn are there when you’re bringing in your catch from the day. Talk to Billy. He’s a very informative and knowledgable guy. He is the kind of a guy you want to sit have a beer and some laughs with. Back to the review! If you are a photographer this place is right up your alley. You can spot birds, wildlife and beautiful scenery. Don’t miss this place.
