Not a great screen, worse sound system, even more unpleasant gate person. I saw the same movie a week before and it was night and day. I couldn't find my way around, it was my first time at this drive in and it's just a flat grassy promenade with no guidance and I got attitude for driving out, what appeared to be an exit. It got 3 stars o my because the ladies in the snack shack were so nice and the overall experience were a toss back to more fond experiences of yore.
My family and I have been coming here for the past few years since we discovered it. We ABSOLUTELY love this place. You can't beat the prices. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. The last time we were there (last week) one of the speakers did not work and we were provided with a small hand held radio that was loud enough for the whole group to hear. We love this place!
This was our second time going to the Ruskin drive in. The staff here are great, everyone seems happy to be there. The food is actually pretty good as well. Bathrooms are very clean and overall the entire property appears to be well kept. To hear the movie you simply tune in to the radio station that they provide and wala you're listening to it through your car speakers (at first it was hard to adjust the volume to the perfect level, so if you're sitting outside make sure someone is communicating that to you). We took some chairs to sit outside and rolled down our car windows. The only negative is that some visitors don't seem to remember their theater etiquette. Teens next to us were being quite obnoxious by talking and making jokes throughout the movie. Overall it's a great place to visit and get away from the claustrophobia of an indoor theatre and having the back of your seat kicked.
Normally we love it, but they started the first movie 45 minutes late, so we didn't get out until almost 1am--way too late with the kids.
If you love old fashioned family fun this is it. They hold true to providing a nostalgic, family friendly atmosphere. Absolutely check out the concession stand. The price is very reasonable, the foods good and it really adds to the total experience. They run a great operation and I'm glad I get the chance to do this with my family.
